Case Reviews

Coolermaster ATCS 110:

This is the best case I have ever owned, and I've owned a fair few. If you can afford this case don't hesitate its the king of cases. The only serious critasism I can come up with is its price, its not a case for all. Its more sturdy than all the other tower Coolermasters. Dual cpu motherboards will fit fine and the cooling is excellent.

Coolermaster ATCS 111:

I have only good things to say about this case, it should be excellent value, with great cooling and amazing looks. The messy way the top fan is attached is my only real complaint, another method that doesn't have the nasty holes would have been preferred. If you dreamed about owning the ATCS 110 but couldn't afford it or you are after a high quality aluminium case this case should be high up your list of choices.

Coolermaster ATCS 200 version 2:

So is it better than the old version, yes! At the price that they are now at, a lot more people can afford to splash out on a Coolermaster. This case is still high quality and Coolermaster have not skimped to give the price drop. Those who have owned the old version will not be dissapointed if they get this new version.

Coolermaster ATCS 201 version 2:

This case is an excellent bargain for those of you looking for a new aluminium case with great looks and excellent cooling. With the price as cheap as they are at the moment you would be silly not to go for it. The only let down are the colour of the sides and top they will not be liked by all.

Coolermaster ATCS 500:

This case is definitly not for all people and all uses, if you are looking for a LAN case you cannot go wrong with this case. If however you are wanting super cooling, this case will disappoint. I love the looks of the case, I probably like it more than the ATCS 210. It will look very nice on any desk. After adding the 2 extra fans I have planned, I think cooling will be much improved, at the moment the temperatures are workable and I have not had any crashes yet using any of games or applications.

Coolermaster ATCS 600:

I have to say I love this case, it made me rethink whether I preferred towers or desktops. I am lucky enough to have a huge desk, if I didnt this case would sit nicely under an LCD monitor. If you are looking for a hi fi seperate looking MP3/DVD box for the lounge look no further as it will fit in a treat. I have no idea of the cost as yet so I can't comment on it fully, I know that with the build and design of the case its not going to be you £50 computer case. It has a few little problems but none of them would cause any major problems.

Coolermaster ATCS 710:

You can't go wrong by buying this case, you definitely won't be disappointed. The few slight niggles I noticed are not major concerns. The case is excellent value (around £100 I am informed). If you are on the look out for a new case, and can't afford an all aluminium one, then this is the case for you. Modding of the case should be very simple, as Chieftec window kits will fit this case comfortably. A big thumbs up for Coolermaster once again

NAYA Design cristO Classic:

This case is certainly unique, if you are after a good quality mid tower case that looks very special then this case is certainly one you should consider. That said the high price means that very few could afford this choice.

Commell LV-670:

If you are after the fastest MiniITX board you can get your hands on this is definitely a board you should consider, however the high price means that very few will be able to justify it up against other Mini ITX solutions.

Hush Technologies Mini-ITX PC:

The Hush system is a high quality item with excellent build quality and the case is the best I've seen to date. If they start selling these cases separately I can see them becoming very popular. The whole ethos of this product is excellent, more and more people are wanting silent PC's and this sets a very good benchmark for others to try to emulate. The only niggles are the slight whine from the hard disk which is only really noticeable if you listen very carefully in a silent room and the performance isn't going to win any awards. But as its aimed at a HTPC market it's forgiveable and maybe the price is a little high considering the specifications.

Matrix Orbital MX2 LCD Display:

LCD's have been around on the modding scene for some time now, Matrix Orbital are well reknown for producing high quality displays, with lots of added extras. They have recently introduced a USB lcd this is great as serial ports are becoming rarer. The MX2 follows on from the first USB lcd's with features that make it much more useful in action. Lets have a look how it gets on in the test lab.

Chyang Fun CF-668 Mini-ITX case:

There is great change a foot in the world of personal computing, the most common pc found today is usually based around a tower unit. These are bulky great things that are not very easy to move around, they also take up huge amounts of space. More and more people are switching to the Small form factor(SFF) pc. These are all very small in size but can still pack a fearsome punch. The smallest of these SFF pc's is the MiniITX form factor, these cram a lot of components on a tiny little motherboard. This means case size can now be shrunk down to save space. The Chyang Fun CF688 case is just such as case. It however has an ace up its sleeve over many MiniITX cases it supports the new Pentium 4 based MiniITX cases, lets have a look at the case to see what its like.

Coolermaster Neon LED Fan:

Case modification and customisation has been popular for some time now. A very popular modification is to use lighting to show of certain parts of your case. This is generally achieved using cold cathode tubs which provide lots of coloured light. Now in order to use this light to its full potentional you need to have a case window. Not everyone has one or wants one of these but what is nearly always on show in a case is the fans. Some clever modders decided to put two and two together and add led's to their case fans. These mods were quite hard to replicated and werent often as tidy as they could be. However fan manufacturers noticed the gap in the market and introduced clear fans with the LED's already included. Coolermaster are just such a manufacturer.
